Yep, it's certainly a versatile guitar.  I find it works a little better into my 65 Amps, whereas the Sigs sound better than the DGT into the XTC.

I prefer my Signatures overall as they have the slightly bigger necks, more versatile switching, one volume control and a broader tone; but this DGT is a nice "more vintage-y" alternative.

The DGT is definitely growing on me.  I found the extra volume knob hugely offputting to begin with, looks-wise, but I'm oblivious to it now.

I wouldn't be surprised to find myself buying one at some point.....!
I really, really like mine. It's the best guitar I've owned certainly, and quite possibly the best I've ever played. Everything on it feels very right to me and I think it helps that DG's approach to amps is keep it one channel and do your tone changes with the guitar and a couple of pedals, which is what I feel most comfortable doing too and the guitar really feels designed with that in mind.

Yes - love playing mine. Very versatile, good split sounds and great volume/tone control response. The only guitar I've got I haven't replaced the pickups (excluding my 63 SG). I don't find the volume control(s)/position any problem.

No, you get used to it don't you?  Plus the bridge volume is roughly where the volume on a McCarty is, and that's the pickup I use the most anyway.

I think my old Goldie must have been a lemon.  Very rare for PRS.

I dunno, you wanna see current PRS UK stock. Their rep brought seven of them into my shop yesterday for a guy to look at because they didn't have the Modern Eagle he fancied in stock. A CU22 semi hollow, couple signatures, a 513 and whatever else. The new SE with the beveled top was a better player than all of them.

I think they've not had stuff through from the US in a while and all they've got is stuff that has all been punted back on sale or return.

I really didn't expect to like it that much, but once I tried it I didn't want to part with it.  I guess it spoke to me...

Nah.. it was n't the guitar talking to you. I reckon Mark from Guitars4you is a bit of a ventriloquist - when he sees you coming towards the shop he gets all excited and sees all these £ signs in front of him and hides out the back, waits for you to look at a PRS and throws his voice saying "Ooooh Dave, buy me buy me"

Very nice guitar by the way!

Ha ha!  Mark knows me better than that, I think he was as surprised as I was when I said I'd buy it

nfe - my DGT was built on 18th June, so Headline have certainly had a recent PRS delivery.  The key dealers who sell most guitars (World Guitars, Peach Guitars, Guitars4You etc) snag all the good stuff out of the shipment as soon as it arrives.  The other guys tend to get the bones left over, and some of those can be very average guitars - especially in the looks department.

Most of the PRS dealers I'm aware of seem to get pretty decent examples, looks and sound-wise.  Then again, perhaps the sites I peruse are the main dealers anyway - I guess there are others who just stock a few guitars and pass under my radar.

Anyway, hasn't Paul Reed Smith fully realised his 21 secret "Rules of Tone" now, so PRS no longer make any lemons?  :P

They all had immense tops as it happens, which is why he brought those. How they sounded and played probably didn't much matter since the guy was, in said reps words, the perfect PRS customer ie. Can't play

Probably - my old DGT was a 2008 model  ;)

I'm pretty sure the problem with that one was the body wood being a bit too soft - I noticed it when I fitted strap locks.

Great sales rep

He's excellent actually. And a top guy. Just knows who buys his lines. That's certainly the majority of people who've bought high-end PRSs in the shops I've worked in and it's what Headline reps have always said. You get millions of great players in trying them - many like them, but the majority of the guys who usually spend the money on them are guys who fiddle about once in a while and like to look at them. Which is an entirely valid market, of course.

I thought the "Q" was similar to another famous "Parts Quartermaster"
