Pop-In Strat Trem Fixed!

So...

I thought I'd write something about this as someone may find it informative.
When I got my strat plus it came with a screw in arm. While Jonathan had it at Feline he quickly spotted it should have a pop-in arm.

The arm however was loose. looking into the mounting hole there was a plastic sleeve of some kind. It was assumed this was teflon. The two grub screws were both as tight as possible. I decided that was the best I could get without replacing the block...

fast forward a while... and I decided to take another look while the strings were off. I tried to tighten the grub screws and that failed, so I removed them. I then poked some pliers into the grub screw hole and realised the plastic sleeve was really tough!

It took me a while to dig it out, but I got there in the end, after which I could tighten the grub screws up to fix the arm in position. SWEET! The issue then being the metal on metal rubbing when the arm is moved around. I bought some real teflon tube 8mm outer, 6mm inner, and pushed a bit in the block and trimmed it flush with the top of the block. The teflon is soft enough so that the grub screws will still tighten and hold the arm firmly, and slippy enough so that getting the arm in and out isn't an issue.

Now it's perfect.

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly
