Speaker Suggestions Please

^ might as well keep it in the thread... i have a gb128 and v128 on the way too, if lean actually ever deigns to send them out (i ordered them on sunday and apparently the order is still "processing" :? )

yeah i originally bought the texas heat to use on its own, and needed it to be 16 ohm. Then about 2 days later realised the texas heat/swamp thang combo was meant to be really good. :lol: so of course that meant i had to buy the swamp thang in 16 ohm, too.

I'll keep my eyes open for your opinion of the pair of Emi Legends. They're looking like the favourites to replace the v30s in my Zilla cab.

^ i got the v128s to try with my jet city, since they're meant to work pretty well with them (and soldano uses v12s in its cabs). Mainly because, although the celestions didn't sound "bad" with the jet city, none really sounded "great" either. So rather than faff about any more i figured i'd just try the speakers that are meant to pair well with it. :lol:

I'll keep my eyes open for your opinion of the pair of Emi Legends. They're looking like the favourites to replace the v30s in my Zilla cab.

Fwiw, Lean got my speakers out to me really quick when I had my Zilla built, got my speakers shipped straight from them to Paul. The woman I spoke to was extremely helpful too. Not sure if you've dealt with them before mind, so you might already know this, hahah! I usually use BlueAran for speakers, truth be told.

^ thanks :) yeah, i've used blue aran a couple of times and they were great, they shipped stuff out the next day and it arrived two days later.

This is the first time I've used Lean- i'm getting a couple of taydens to try them and they seem to be the only people who stock them.

it does say on the lean site that, since they have such large stocks (and everything i ordered was in stock, and still seems to be) it means they can ship stuff quickly :? Maybe they're on holiday or short-staffed with the olympics or something- don't want to complain too much in case they have a perfectly legitimate reason for not having sent it. As I said, I'll give them until Monday (doubt much will happen over the weekend anyway, plus i have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and don't want them turning up in the middle of that :lol: ), then drop them an email.

Right, I've roughed together most of a song to demonstrate the V128. Bear in mind this is the 3rd time I've ever had chance to record something with a mic'ed cab, I've not mixed it at all besides levels and a bit of compression and reverb on the kit, and compression on the bass.

So you'll be using them with a Jet City too? Even better as should give me a really good idea of how they'll work for me  :D

Soldano use Legend V1218s (I think?) which are custom voiced Eminence Legends that don't seem to match up with anything they currently have on their site.

Theyre the exact same as the v128 according to people on the soldano forum other than the fact theyre 16ohm.

yep, i can try them with the jet city if that'd help you :) i have the 50 watt head which i'm guessing is not too far away from your soldano clone.

and yeah as toe-knee said soldano uses v12s. You seem to only be able to get them in 8 ohm impedance off the shelf.

right well i got an email back from lean, looks like they're out of stock of the taydens i ordered and the delivery they were expecting last week hasn't turned up yet. Looking like (late) next week, unfortunately :( Sorry about that. :)

EDIT: yeah when they get here i can try both of those combos, i have a pair of v128s and a single gb128 on the way.
