Some BK Aftermath clips

And a few others:

Equipment:

BC Rich handmade Beast with Bare Knuckle Aftermaths
Moser Custom Shop Moser 10 (strung as a 6) with DiMarzio Crunch Lab
BC Rich Handmade Widow with DiMarzio Super Distortion
BC Rich Handmade KK Wartribe Warlock with EMG 81

Framus Cobra 100W Head
Framus Cobra 4x12 cab with Greenbacks
Shure SM57 mic on lower right speaker (clips without Heil in the title have this mic)
Heil PR20 mic on lower right speaker (clips with Heil in the title have this mic)

Presonus Firestudio Mobile
MacBook Pro
Garage Band

No processing. All clips have same amp settings. The ones marked with Treble have slightly more high end (treble and presence) because I thought the initial recordings needed it.

These are all the Heil mic'd clips:

Precise playing wasn't my goal, just sound comparison.

My thoughts:
I don't like the SM57. It's got a nasal hump that I just don't care for. The Heil is louder and clearer and more balanced. It colors the sound less. I like the clarity of the Aftermath but the high end is just way too bright when I'm playing leads. Can't seem to dial it out (it's not that apparent in these clips).

Coming soon:
BC Rich Beast with Wilde USA 500XL and EMG 81-X.

Enjoy!

Great bunch of clips! It's hard comparing pickups in different guitars though. You're right about the SM57. It has a very recognisable character and is not very dynamic. It can be heard in most rock/metal guitar recordings though, so it will give you a certain mainsteam base when you throw it in the mix. I like large diaphragm mics as the Heil but you will lose a little high-end.

To me the DSD and Aftermath sound very balanced, pleasant and aggressive.

Great job on the clips, and the gear sounds great. I've always like Framus amps.

And I actually loved the sound of the Super Distortion too!
