Pickup Advice For My Specific Tone/Sound
« on: August 05, 2012, 03:37:57 PM »
Hi guys, I've been following BKP for a while now thanks to people like Misha Mansoor or Nolly promoting the heck outta it, and I'm glad. Only recently have I started to become a real tone dialling junkie. I'm currently getting my guitar repaired, ( some basic Top nut/ string buzz issues) however it's also going to have it's pickups upgraded.

The tone I'm looking for would be preferably that 'Djent' sound with a consistent clarity at both low and high ends.
I usually play progressive metal, death metal/core and jazz. So my question:

Does anyone have any advice on which pickup I should get that would fit my style?
I've done some research, the BKP Aftermaths or Black Hawks have been on my list.
Which of the two would you recommend?
I first started looking at Dimarzio Crunchlabs but I noticed that the BKP's have a slightly more tighter tone.
I'm new to this forum so If I've gone wrong somewhere, I apologise in advance.
Thanks everyone!

From Death Metal, through Progressive Metal to Jazz is a bit of a mix so for that reason I'm going to go for the Black Hawks over the Aftermaths.

Yeah I have them and they cover all those easily. Perfect for death/prog/jazz. And anything else haha. Make sure you can split them too! It's worth it especially for recording.

Wow thanks dudes, good advice. Prog/death/jazz is stretch indeed, but the info has defiantly helped me. Going to keep Black Hawks at the top of my priority list, but if you guy's have any other suggestions then I would appreciate any other advice!
