NGD - Mutant Tele Content
« on: August 08, 2012, 04:11:37 PM »

The Tele-Explorer is done and I've been using it every night since Saturday, in the the middle of a 9-night stint.
I will get pictures up as soon as I can, needless to say it's very busy at the moment.

The rosewood neck is a completely different tone animal than maple for sure. Body wood is my favorite, swamp ash.
The rosewood/phenolic neck gives the guitar a very "round" mid and slightly not snappy bass. The full-ish mid tone continues up the frequencies and then at the very top there is a bright sizzle. Kinda weird clean, but OMG do the gain tone leads just smoke!!! Best lead tone ever, just kills. Saturday night DURING the set I had people texting me... "new git is WICKED AWESOME!!!!"  - and a couple other positive comments on my tone.

LOLL - you guys are soooo funny! YES - pics are coming... Been working the day job 5:30-3:30 then have to make it to sound check at 5:00pm, done for the day by 11:00pm so it's a grinder this week for sure.
Huge venue but HATE the facility sound crew. Next year we're contracting lights and sound with a 3rd party.
Sounds great on stage but not out of the FOH... Last night, I just unplugged the direct box they were trying to use and turned my cab straight forward and cranked it up. It was a huge improvement. Oh, well looking forward to another confrontation tonight. These morons forget who's paying them. We'd fire them already but can't get any replacement services in on this short notice.

Don't trust the sound crew with the pics !

I have kept looking at this thread for the pics ; on average that's 20% more than I looked at 'Big and Busty' !

Yes, the conspiracy theorists did say there may be a "Tele-Explorer" scam planned for near the end of the Olympics . Either that or it is a cunning plan by 'Acme guitar parts' (U.K.) to get Philly buying an explorer ( and /or Flying V ) body for each and every one of his Warmouth Telecaster necks. I mean that could be serious money !  :o

That would be about six(?) Explorer bodies.... serious money indeed!

But no, Explorers are too big for little ol' me, although I do like the design a lot.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

They're subzero cool, but unpractical playing it on the couch or putting it on/in a stand.
Nevertheless a korina Explorer with covered hb's would be a cool addition to my tiny collection.

Indeed gwEm, "The truth is out there " ...

( Cue 'X Files' music )

Mysterious deaths of sound facility crew members at a large music venue ; sightings of an alien guitar hybrid - and Mulder researching the historical symbolism of the Explorer body shape;  whilst that reet smart lass he goes around with continues to insist there is a rational explanantion.  This is turning into a two part episode !  :o

Lovely !

I'm now glad I waited by the computer with a sleeping bag and pile of sandwiches.

She really is a saucy filly .   8)  Even more stylish and ( one presumes ) tactile to handle, than I anticipated. It deserves something a bit more up market than D'adario strings.
