Can anyone lend me a single EL34 for a week?
« on: August 20, 2012, 01:41:21 PM »
My Martamp Goldstar has developed a problem where after its been on for 30 minutes, it starts to get farty, and the clean is terrible (not that its great, but it used to sound 10x better), especially with the gain and master low, better with the master high.  I've swapped single pre and the single EL34 power tube recently, after this started a couple of months ago, and it's still recurring.

Before I take a trip to Martin's does someone have a known good single EL34 which I can give it another test, and can post it to me.

If you're around London I'm happy to give you an EL34

Been over today, we're suspecting it ain't the valve now. More likely a dying component elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure if you got a schematic from Martin you guys could probably fault find it yourself with ease.

Is it having any other issues?

Fixed.

Took it over to Martins, one faulty bleed resistor, gets hot, resistance drops, some electrons take a little tour to ground.

Top service from a top bloke.
