Incoming NGD
« on: August 23, 2012, 02:00:35 AM »
It's a bit early to post as I wont have it till sometime next week but,  I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus in midnight sapphire  :D  Can't wait to get it.  I'm like a kid waiting for Santa.  It's going to be a addition to my collection as the three guitars I use most have active pick ups in them.

I was close to buying a standard plus top and finding some nice BKP's to go in it but I've swapped pick ups in 80% of my guitars so that idea got shelved.  A bit over swapping pups for the moment.

I never use to be an LP fan but it just grew on me one day so I figured "why not?"  I'll post some pics when I have it.  Hurry up next week...

Some pic's, big ones.  It's very nice.  Sounds great, plays great and is well made.  It's a whole lot of guitar for little money.  I've never played a Gibson LP so can't compare than.  All it needed was a tune as the set up is spot on.  I'm really pleased with this.  Only bad point is no need for some BKP's as the pick up's are good but there are a few pits in the rear pup cover.  I love it   :)

Great looking guitar you have there. But are you sure you don't want some BKP's? The stock pickups can't be that good!

The pick ups are Gibson 57 alnico II.  They are really good and they are serial/parallel too.

yeah they'd probably be my favourite gibson pickups (out of what i've tried)- there's no law that says you have to upgrade the pickups

I compared the pick ups to a set of EMG Hetfields' I have in another guitar and was very surprised.  The Het set is a great set of pick ups, great for metal, yet the 57's were hot on their heels for metal.  If I'd had gotten the Epi Les Paul standard then I think I'd consider a pick up change but not with this, no way.

I played it for about 3 hours yesterday.  I love it  :)
