...that you don't properly appreciate BKPs until you've played a guitar that's almost the same but doesn't have them. I found an ace telecaster in soundcontrol today, the body was really resonant, it didn't play that great but it sounded fantastic unplugged. Plugging it into a tweed fender amp which sounded pretty ace was a one way trip to dissapointment city. It was weedy and thin, it was like somebody ran up and turned the bass and mids down and put a blanket over the amp.

I heart my Boss set. 8)

I totally agree!

I have 2 Les Pauls: 1 is a 1998 Gibson Les Paul Standard with Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers and my other is a Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (Les Paul Clone) with Bareknuckle Black Dog/Riff Raff pickups.

The Gibson on the whole plays slightly better (I prefer it's thicker neck) and sounds better unplugged than the Gordon Smith, but plugged into an amp, the Gordon Smith kicks the Gibson's ass all over the place as far as tone!

I now want a set of Mules for my Gibson when funds allow to bring it 'upto scratch' with the Gordon Smith :)

Hell yes.

Like all the guys here, I'm always on the lookout for new guitars, and quite recently I went hunting: guitars that impressed me accoustically in and around denmark street:

Gibbo Explorer
USA Soloist (w/EMGs)
Schecter omen
RG prestige (not sure which: one of the 5 piece neck, mahog body ones).

Playing each one of them through my normal test amp (TSL: because its common and I have one) was diassapointing on all counts. My BK'd japanese (top of the line jap at the time, but still...) jackson and yamaha SG OWNED them ALL. And my handmade dean W/ BKs owns those.

I'm not sure which is better, BKing a cheap guitar and having it make £1500 guitars cry in a corner, or BKing an already amazing guitar and sitting back like king sh!t of turd mountain thinking "It doesnt get better than this, BWAHAHAHAHAHA" :lol:

I agree with both, I have had to make a trip twice a week for the last 2 years to get my kids to guitar classes, these take place at different guitar shops. Lots of guitars come and go. Being friends with the managers has given me a chance to try different models and makers. The custom ones, etc. Everything plug into an amp sounds pretty much dull, generic, more of the same. Take a look at any amp settings on the store and most have 10 on the bass, mids and treble, and of course crunch. This does not allow for appreciation of a Tone of any kind. Like I said with a clean setting these instruments are lifeless. Enter excellent quality pickups , and it is day and night. There are good things out there, we just have to try them. No fear, no turning back.:)

Hi Brow I have a Gibson V with a set of Crawlers in it and I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard with stock pups in . The V wipes the LP out every time.I have just ordered a set of zebra Mules for the LP. Ive probably offended the Gibson purists out there but what the hell......... Tim and the boys just make better pickups.

Any attacks of Guitar based GAS I get now are immediately followed by BKP GAS...

I've only got one BKP and it's a Sinner in a Strat-style guitar. I used to almost never play in the bridge position with single coils. Now I'm doing it more than half the time! And the other pickups in my guitar were by far the best pickups I'd ever heard in my life before BKPs; they weren't just stock.

I have a Crawler in the bridge of a Strat with a pair of Irish Tours in the Middle and Neck positions.

The crawler is an awesome pickup! It's very open sounding and lets the guitars tone shine through, but it has enough power behind it to overdrive my Orange amp when I play harder. I love it :D

I don't have two identical guitars to compare but BKP's sound louder and more alive than anything else.

Happens to me all the time. I see some guitar and think 'man, that would be a great guitar with this or that BKP'

If I had the money I'd have more guitars than Philking.
