Miracle Man or Cold Sweat?
« on: September 16, 2012, 02:40:54 AM »
I would like to know the difference between those two pickups and how would work the a pig neck combined with one of these two.
I'm afraid that the a pig neck could have to much output to be combined with one of these two. I like the Dimarzio Tone Zone in the neck position and thought that the a pig neck would the equivalent.

The MM would have enough output easily. Coldsweat would be slightly behind it and may have issues but not much.

And the differences in my opinion would be the coldsweat has quite the bright top end, heavily scooped mids, and tight muscular low end. The MM on the other hand has a surgically tight and bigger low end with not as scooped mids with a less bright top end that's more balanced with the other frequencies then the coldsweat.

Personally thought i'd go with a MM neck over a pig neck. The MM neck I've read sounds more like the tonezone. Never personally tried the MM neck though but when people were wondering of whether or not to use the MM neck for a bridge the subject of it sounding like a tonezone came up.

My 2 cents :P

neck MM and neck pig sound close to each other, but the MM is more modern sounding, like the tone zone

the miracle man is definitely a better match for the bridge

This is something you'd need to ask Tim. I've had problems balancing neck/bridge pickups in volume before, and would advise to enquire about this before.

Cold Sweat bridge is definitely brighter than Miracle Man bridge, and has slightly less output. I agree with Eric - Miracle Man is the better option for the Pig neck.
