Technically speaking, if a guitar has a natural, oiled body, neck and headstock, are they matching..?

Just so I'm clear, like.

I'd assume - traditionally speaking - the body would be alder or ash, the neck would be maple (with or without a rosewood board).

So for a "matching headstock" in that case, the headstock would need to have a natural oiled alder or ash veneer.

IMO, of course.

As far as I am concerned, coloured headstocks are the right way for all the custom colours - surf greens, fiesta red, Daphne blue, burgundy mist, etc all look great.  Obviously not for sunburst, white or that toffee colour (desert sand?) but black is ok.

- As a rule of thumb maple-board Strats should not have matching headstocks (but never say never)

What the $%&#?

I couldn't watch that shite, was there a Strat in it at some point?

(Edit:  I've just noticed the title of the song.   )

Dave: What is the difference between the 408 and the Signature Limited? To me they seem quite/very similar?

No there wasn't - I watched hoping to see to holy grail matching headstock guitar - and it was just Jason Beider and Jackie Chan and that kid who is imitating the Karate Kid.

Not that much mechanically, except the switching has a different layout (toggle vs blade).

The Sig Ltd has an Artist grade maple top, very dense mahogany for the neck and lightweight mahogany for the back.  Upgraded woods all round, basically, plus a bound neck and headstock overlay.

Basically, the 408 is a regular production version of the limited production Sig Ltd.

Haha :D just wanted to $%&# with you. I hate it when people say never say never because it makes me think of this song... I'm just helping to spread the hate :)

Fair enough!

BTW, I realise I even contradicted my own "never say never" statement in my original post, by saying "never" in the very next line.....

Was this a reference to something that I should know of or do you really still not know his name properly?

Haha, no :D
I was just under the impression that everyone in the world with access to the Internet and the outside world knew his name... Surely you couldn't have missed it. He's possibly the most hated singer/celbrity in the world!
Because of that I was just. Wondering whether you were referencing something from a movie, for example.

Right, back on topic!

So I've had my two PRS guitars up for sale for a few weeks now, at what I think are good prices and all I've had is a couple of nibbles, and one stupidly crazy lowball.  I thought things were supposed to be getting better for folks financially?  Or maybe the used PRS market is just shockingly awful?  :?

Rather than than let two great guitars go for a song, I've decided I'm going to keep them - I'd rather enjoy them myself for the amount they'd bring in.  So after the PRS Collection V arrives in a month or two, that's it.  I'll be done.  I won't be able to afford another guitar for a LOOOONG time, as I'll be paying that off for eternity and a day.

As I said here:  https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=28518.msg372497#msg372497

I'm looking forward to getting off the merry-go-round of buy-sell-lose money-buy-sell-lose money.  I must be getting sensible in my old age...

Ha, ha... yeah sure, pull the other one. I've been around this parish long enough to have heard that one before.

Next Philly Q will be breaking out the screwdrivers and tinning his soldering iron!

(a) I thought things were supposed to be getting better for folks financially?

(b) Rather than than let two great guitars go for a song, I've decided I'm going to keep them - I'd rather enjoy them myself for the amount they'd bring in.

(a) don't think so, isn't it a double-dip?

(b) But yeah I mean hang onto them if you're not getting enough, that's what i'd do, too. That being said, I do the "buy stuff and don't sell anything" thing and I'm not sure that leads to a better financial situation
