Right, back on topic!

So I've had my two PRS guitars up for sale for a few weeks now, at what I think are good prices and all I've had is a couple of nibbles, and one stupidly crazy lowball.  I thought things were supposed to be getting better for folks financially?  Or maybe the used PRS market is just shockingly awful?  :?

Rather than than let two great guitars go for a song, I've decided I'm going to keep them - I'd rather enjoy them myself for the amount they'd bring in.  So after the PRS Collection V arrives in a month or two, that's it.  I'll be done.  I won't be able to afford another guitar for a LOOOONG time, as I'll be paying that off for eternity and a day.

As I said here:  https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=28518.msg372497#msg372497

I'm looking forward to getting off the merry-go-round of buy-sell-lose money-buy-sell-lose money.  I must be getting sensible in my old age...

I was really surprised nobody bought that Chris Henderson single cut. I would have, if I didn't already have too many guitars.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII

Ha, ha... yeah sure, pull the other one. I've been around this parish long enough to have heard that one before.

Next Philly Q will be breaking out the screwdrivers and tinning his soldering iron!

Well....

..... I am taking some time off soon for the London Film Festival.

I might have time to consider thinking about planning to do something with my Warmoth/Fender/BKP parts mountain.....

Selling guitars is weird, though, you only need one or two interested buyers at the right time.  You never know what might happen in a month or two.

I might've been interested in either of those guitars myself, but the timing wasn't right for me cashflow-wise.

I think it might be a little early to be making those kind of assertions.  Let's let the dust settle a bit.....  :P

The price I paid for my second hand DGT in late May makes me think that things have not improved at all economically and that selling anything is pretty tough these days.

To put it another way, I paid quite a bit less for an utterly mint condition 2011 spec 10 top DGT than I did for a '95 McCarty with no fancy extras that I bough six months earlier. I'm hanging on to that McCarty for the time being even though it doesn't get played I'm thinking that unless I can trade it for something that would suit me better there's no way to sell it now without taking a big loss.

The day Philly starts putting together stuff seems even more remote than the day Dave stops buying PRS guitars and gear...(and that day seems to, at least temporarily have come).

I meanwhile am waiting for Philly to start to sell stuff (similary unlikely), maybe I can grab some things if I can somehow afford it. Would love to make myself a Warmoth type build....and I am sure Philly has some pretty darn nice pieces collected. JUST GIVE THEM UP (TO ME) ALREADY!!
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

I sell lots of stuff.... although I admit it's been a while.

In the next few weeks I WILL sell some stuff or complete a project (probably not both  :| ).

Won't be "giving" anything though!!!  :P

+1 - Bought my second hand (maple top) DGT last year for a very good price - in excellent condition, love it.

Very tempted by Dave's cherry DGT Standard as I would like an all mahogany bodied guitar to replace my 1963 SG Standard (not selling it but it's a bit delicate!) - fair price for an "as new" guitar - but as I have a PRS Studio as well as the DGT  I'm de-gassing  :(

This is it exactly, no-one has cash at the moment so it's tough for sellers.  Even worse if you HAVE to sell, you're gonna get screwed  :(

I've been thinking a hell of a lot about my gear recently, and my clearout for the super-PRS has done wonders psychologically.  I'm completely and utterly done with buying gear.

It's like deja vu all over again... ;)

Attribute the quote:

I wouldn't part with my Pearly Gates or Modern Eagle.  Truly incredible, and the reason I've sold so many others.  Can't see me dropping any of the current stable though, they're all complete belters!

Squier JV Strat - my first electric, and the only thing I own with a trem!
Fender Custom Shop Esquire - Ian Price's old guitar
Fender Custom Shop Tele - the Red Sparkle monster
Fano JM6 - my P90 guitar, and one that I'm bonding with more and more
Gibson '65 SG -  the old guy that I'm now using in YC/DC
Paul Richardson SCR - the modern oddball, and my main guitar for my non-DC bands
Gibson Pearly Gates Les Paul - I sacrificed my Ducati for this, and it was definitely the right choice
PRS Modern Eagle - my dream guitar, and something I never thought I'd buy

I'm so contented with the above, that I've stopped looking at guitar shop websites

I know I know, I've said it before.  Very, very different this time though - PRS 408 guitars are what I've been looking for since I began playing guitar.  They have "my" tone in every way, and whenever I play something else I'm always thinking I'd rather have a 408 round my neck.

By the way, I still have the Strat, Modern Eagle and Tele - so 3/8 ain't bad
