hi,

i'm new here but have been observing this forum as an outsider for awhile now. i'm very interested in purchasing a pair of bareknuckles, the question, as usual, is which pair to choose. now, i play a '70s les paul custom that's tuned down, usually to b flat. it currently has a pair of wolftones in it but i find them too boomy and more than a little muddy. i need a pick up that's heavy as hell with a tight bottom end and lot's of mids but that will be able to handle quiet, clean applications as well. from what i've read so far the nailbomb or the miracleman seem to be ideal for this but i was wondering you folks think. any replies would be appreciated.

Do you mean miracle man? If so, well, I have a bridge miracle man and it has a super tight bass, but not lots of mids, and its not the best for cleans.

I'm sure the real experts will be along soon to give you a recommendation, but I only have a MM so I don't know about the others.

The Miracle Man has the best cleans out of any ceramic pickup ive heard!

Sorry, my post wasn't very clear :oops: . Usually when someone says "not the best" its means "sucks," but here I actually meant that they were good but literally not the best, ie nailbombs could be better.

doh! miracle man - of course. i must have been thinking of my current rig which is a musicman for cleans and a sunn model t for distortion. of course all opinions in regards to tone etc. are subjective but what do you think the musicmans limitations are for clean applications? thanks for your quick responses by the way.

Tight bottom, lots of mids and good cleans?

Maybe I'm wrong but I would choose the Holy Diver (Alnico V). Lots of vocal mids, a bottom tighter than NB (to my ears) but probably less tight than Miracle Man. And with your volume knob you can have good clean (for a high gainer).

For that kind of ultra low tuning, the Warpig would be my weapon of choise. :twisted:

yeah, i hear both of you. the question is, how do they clean up? from what i've gathered from the forum it seems warpigs & MM's aren't as versatile as nailbombs. the question is, are the warpigs or MM's substantially more HEAVY than nailbombs and if so, is it worth sacrificing a mindblowing heavy for a great clean sound? it's tricky when you can't draw direct comparisons with your own guitar and set-up. thanks alot for all of your opinions, i appreciate it.

I would recommend to purchase the nailbomb. Becouse of its versability, its a great place to start with BKP`s. And I swear that if you buy one, youll never turn back.

So thumbs up for the nailbomb, its an amazing pickup. Its perfect for all kinds of metal, and when it comes to clean, its surprisingly good. Its also alnico , so it gives a rich, full tone.

Anyways, ask Tim. Hes sure to recommend you a pup. Im guessing he will say miracle man or a nailbomb.

The warpig is pretty much as heavy as it gets and has a great clean.

The miracle man is also capable of being very heavy, but its cleans arent as good.

I cant speak for the nailbomb in this, really
