Kinda weird solution to problem with delay
« on: October 12, 2012, 06:58:48 PM »
Today I just found a solution to a long percisting delay problem. My TC Nova Repeater has always been placed at the end of my pedal chain as this seems to be the normal way to go (if you don't stick it in the loop). At a clean setting or with amp gain it sounded fine, but with gain from a pedal the amount of repeats and the volume of the repeats was cut drastically - to the extend of not existing when high gain use.

Today I found out that the problem is solved by putting the pedal first in the chain. Easy solution and I have probably just been too lazy to try this out before. It's seems kinda contradictory to the normal "laws" of delay as far as I understand and to add more weirdness the pedal really sounds bad when I put it in the loop of my amp so from now on I it has found its right spot.

Any of you guys who have tried anything similar?

that is weird.. i think there's a +4db -10db switch somewhere on that. could it have been switched to +4db by mistake?

I'm not aware of such a switch, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist  :D

Do you use a line buffer?

Nope.

It prevents loss of signal in the chain of effects. I use my old AD9 often at the end of the chain, but in front of the amp. For me it works fine, also with some drive/dist.pedals before the AD9.
