Pickups for Ibanez RG570
« on: February 21, 2006, 03:45:42 PM »
Hi all, am new here but have been looking at Bare Knuckles for ages and by the looks of it, this is the best place for help.

I have recently bought an Ibanez RG570dx and was wondering if you could advise me as a good HSH set-up for this guitar. I have a Les Paul with Alnico Pro and Custom Custom so am looking to make this guitar more of a metal monster.

Nailbombs with a Trilogy in the middle seems to be a very popular setup for RG's.

I have been recommended the Trilogy before along with MMs. Im torn between the Nailbomb and MMs. Has anyone heard an HSH with either of the two configurations?

Are the 54mm pickups the ones that are used in RGs?

I'd be tempted with any of the following:
Nailbomb, Warpig, Miracle Man.

With The Sinner, Trilogy or Irish Tour in the middle.

i've got a VHII w/ Irish Tour combo in my strat HSH and it's incredible!

The 3rd sticky clip in the Players section is Tim playing a set of NBs in an RG. I asked Tim what pickups he recommends for a shred monster and he said MM with the Trilogy for my RT. Although that Warpig/Sinner combo would be pure evil. For the pickups spacing you just measure from high to low E, my RT is 50 mm, not sure if that standard for ibanez.

The Warpig/Sinner combo sounds monsterous! Does it make a difference that its wired for the bridge postion?

When you are looking at combos such as these, is the flat or stagger better?

^i think the sinner is a bridge only pickup- as far as i know, the sinner is paired with 2 "uber-trilogies" in a strat type guitar (they're basically hotter trilogy suites), so if you WERE (big if) to go for the evil-sounding warpig/sinner/warpig set, you'd probably be better going for an uber-triligy in the middle.
