BKP Warpig bridge but with a BKP strat neck?
« on: October 16, 2012, 09:50:49 AM »
I currently have an ESP George Lynch Skull and snakes guitar.  I play this through an Orange Rockerverb (Great, tonally its got dominant mids and lots of great gain on tap).

Any way this has always been my backup guitar to my faithful and number 1 ESP LTD M1000 which im gonna get a set of aftermaths.  What I want though is for the Lynch to be its equal a genuine alternative or even better.  It should be given its supposed to be a custom ESP any way and not an LTD!

I gravitate towards metal and whilst the Lynch guitar is ideal for metal soloing it has no balls for full on metal rythms, too thin and scratcy.  At the time I made the decision to change the stock pickups (Lynch's sig pickups) to the Seymour Duncan SH-13 'Dimebucker' in the bridge and the Di Marzio HS-4 (Yngwie Malmsteen) in the neck.  Come on, who the hell wouldnt want the bridge power to knock out Pantera riffs and shred like Malmsteen with the neck pup?!
Not a terrible decision as it turned out.  The Dimebucker does give a bit more power and did sound 'heavier' but with hindsight not the smartest move given Dime had a very trebley/harsh sound mixed with my naturally thin sounding guitar.

The Di Marzio HS4 is just wicked though.  People always comment on it when ive played it.  It is just outright Yngwie tone and I love it, it dominates the guitar in a good way.

So any way given I only use the neck for soloing the bridge pickup is the meat and potatoes and the most important.  To make this guitar 'right' im in no doubt the warpig is the only solution.  The problem is the warpig definitely has too much output for the HS4, to me it even looks as if it does for the BKP trilogy pickups too.......unless any one wants to tell me differently/some succes stories  :D  I need them to be equal volumes.

Now of course the Sinner has the output to match and im in no doubt this will be wicked in the bridge but tonally it doesnt look like its suited to be in the neck (Too bassy) and ive not heard any clips of it. I really want that creamy Dave Murray, Malmsteen, Petrucci lead tone in the neck.  Would this be ideal even ?!

I know I could ask the BKP guys and I know theyre famed for their customer service but theyve got a job to do and things to sell so id rather ask you guys initially.

If it dont work out I do have a backup plan to buy a Seymour Duncan SH-5 for the bridge and keep the Di Marzio neck as I know theyll match.  I know the Warpig would be better than the SH-5 though !

I had a similar problem on the George Lynch baritone, that I had to keep a very high powered neck pickup to keep up with the Miracle Man in the bridge.

I would be very surprised if any pickup other than the Sinner neck would work.

Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog
