I can safely say I never saw that one coming. I would've thought they'd get a lot of business, since they had so many products that not only were exclusive to them in the UK but also the kindof things I would've expected to be in demand a lot.

I think they closed on 1st Jan, didnt they? I was surprised too. But maybe the majority of people in this country are so accustomed to not customising their guitars - because Warmoth Allparts etc aren't always so readily available in this country that the culture of customisation hasn't been able to develop to the extent that it has in the US - that GSR simply came too late in the day.

For the majority of people, of course. I guess most of us here are pretty heavily into modifying and so on.

this might not be wholly accurate, but i seem to remember from a quick skim on their site a few months back, that the prices were really high? i've probably mis-remembered this, so don't slaughter me for it lol

They were pretty high, and the pickguards took forever to arrive as each one was ordered individually from the USA. I don't think it packed up because of the nature of the products at all, the guitar customisation market is pretty big. But it's important to remember that Gary was running it from his house, and it was a tough job...

I only mentioned what I thought simply because all of my guitar playing friends, no-one is really interested in customising their guitars, at all. Having said that, most of the people I know who play guitar are just casual strummers, so I guess they aren't as hardcore about their guitars as some others might be.

For whatever reason, it's still sad news. I was always tempted to design my own plectrums! (although I wasn't going to put my own name on them

)

That's genuinely a shame, but I gotta admit the prices did seem prohibative in one or two places. I know what you mean about people not being intrested in buying aftermarket parts, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't.

I think my friend who picked up a nice strat the otherdays sort of considering slapping soapbars in at some point, but it seems people's imagination for what their guitar can become stops at pickups in most cases. :|
