New song and video by John Doe
« on: October 29, 2012, 01:53:45 PM »
Hey guys!
We just finished our video with my band, guitar parts recorded with a Warmoth Strat loaded with Bare Knuckle Nailbomb humbucker and 2 Irish Tour single coils, through a Blackstar HT Stage 60 amp. Very happy with the way it came out. Watch if you got time and your feedback is very welcome. Thanks so much and have a great day!

Awesome! Really digging the music and the video :)
Was the little solo part done with the Nailbomb or with a TS?

On the solo part, it shows you playing a guitar with SSSconfig? Is this just purely for the video, but really recorded with the Nailbomb?

What kind of wood do you have the Nailbomb installed in? It really sounds good :)

It's chambered swamp ash. Warmoth makes them. Cheers

Never thought of the Nailbomb in a bright wood like that. How do you think the Chambering affects the tone? And what made you decide you that option?

Well because it's chambered it's definitely more mid range-y, that's why I ordered the ceramic ones, which add a bit more top end. To be honest it was more of an experimentation, I had the strat which I played and loved for quite a while (it had Lace sensors in before), so I tried the Bare knuckle pickups and they work brilliantly.

I'll definitely have to try out that combo. I actually thought you was using Alnicos at first. Great sound though and 10/10 for the song :D

I'm actually going to try that combo with a Warmoth build. What neck woods did you use? Also what kind of neck pickup would you recommend in a build like that? Bright, dark, etc? I'm after a humbucker neck so was thinking a C-Bomb/VHII combo?

I don't know if you could answer me this also, but in a chambered Swamp Ash build, do you think the alnico NB would be to mid-focussed?

Neck is birdseye maple with rosewood fretboard, so the whole guitar is very mid range oriented. That's why I chose the more trebl-y option of the pickup.
Your best option is to write to Bare Knuckle help desk and tell them all the specs of your guitar and what kind of sound you are after. I did that and they've been very helpful. They were the ones who advised me against alnico. Hope that helps
