Acoustic songs to learn?
« on: November 18, 2012, 04:10:58 PM »
I've just purchased an acoustic guitar (my first actually), and I want to broaden my horizons and learn different style's (I'm a metal guitar player), and wondered which acoustic guitar songs would be good to learn?

I'd consider myself pretty advanced on the electric guitar, so for the difficulty levels, I'm quite open-minded for the acoustic.

I'd really like to learn everything from finger-picking, to country, to Jazz. But for my first song, I'd really love to learn a really beautiful sounding ballad.

Thanks all :)

It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Will try and learn by ear though. I think I really need to for once, haha. I have a bad habit of learning even the most technically demanding songs off tab, then forget how to play it without tabs :/

I was beaten to the punch on the Bert and Davey recommendations, so how about a bit of Mr Renbourn?

Time was when all acoustic players started fingerstyle with Anji:
