BKP's for Heritage H150 VSB
« on: November 20, 2012, 06:55:39 PM »
I bought this a little while ago, great guitar but I don't really like the stock SD 59 Pickups.
I have BKP's in 2 of my other guitars & was thinking of going the same route with this.

I was kinda thinking that Abraxas HB would be a good choice? Any thoughts?
Thought would go the whole hog & wire em to push push tone pots with coil splits.

Here's the spec for the Guitar:

Hi there. Those Heritage-guitars are great value for money. A really good Gibson-alternative.
About the pickups, this sweet guitar cries for Mules if you're looking for a full, open, vocal tone, with a lot of depth and a delightful crispiness at the same time. Mules can do serious rock and even (Nolly, moderator, has Mules in his Blackmachine and he plays metal with it!) hardrock and metal.
Of course Abraxas would do too, is a bit middier. a little more compressed and has more output, but still PAF-ish and enough chime in the topend.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I picked up a Gibson Les Paul Standard with the SD SH-1 set. Sounds more fuller than the Mule with more mids. The only SD i have liked. I also have an Abraxas set in my other '93 Les Paul and they are hotter, but still great for a LP.....a hot rodded one.

If you want it to be in hot rod mode, then Abraxas gets my vote.
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus

Thanks Guys, I do actually want it a tad hotter hence my suggestion of the Abraxas.

Believe it or not after buying the Heritage I actually sold my 57 Les Paul Custom VOS as I actually think that the Heritage is a better guitar.  :)

I can't really contribute to this thread but I'd just like to say how pretty I think that Heritage is... Apart from the headstock :D
I can't get over it... I looks like an acoustic guitar headstock, not rock...

Anyway, The abraxas does seem like a nice option, IMO.

Don't really give a cr4p about the shape of the headstock. I'm more concerned with the build quality & the sound which is awesome & better than most Gibsons I have seen or played.

Believe it or not after a while with this Guitar I have now sold my Gibbo 57 LP Custom VOS as IMO this is a superior Guitar......apart from the pickups of course!

That is a very nice guitar.

I fully support the Abraxas set - should be a very good fit for that guitar.

Cheers Stephan

Sounds like a thumbs up for abaraxas then!  PDT_003
May go with a Reverse Zebra open coil set to give it a different vibe.

Also will def fit push push pots & wiire for coil splits too.  :D

Or you could get a pair of SD triple shot mounting rings for coil split and parallel. Neat little things  :)

I think you're making the right choice with the Abraxas.

That is a beautiful guitar, glad it sounds good too.

Congrats! Let us know how they sound. Fiddle with the height to find the sweet spot, cause scatterwound pickups are heigth-sensitive.
