When are you too clear and detailed?
Good question ! :lol:
To clarify my description further , I sometimes switch over to a 'Monster' Jazz Cable, if I want a silky rounding off of the edgiest highs - and general 'artificial sweetener' - without losing articulation on the quieter phrasing and vibrato e.t.c. Cleartone cables usually mean slightly tamed E.Q arrangements being needed on the Amplifier / Amp modeller itself, for Chord Melody work .
However ;
Between the two brands of cable , the Cleartone would be the great all rounder - and have more edge / sparkle if the guitar /pickups were capable of giving me edge and sparkle to begin with. In that way I would say Cleartone cables seem to track the guitar output more faithfully, but if one is playing a very clean yet traditionally slightly muted tone / style , the Monster Jazz cable quickly changes any amp into 'That Jazz Thang' - with minimum E.Q changes on the Amplifier / pots on the guitar. For my purposes, there would be such a thing as a cable being
too honest , even if I wanted it to sound otherwise clear. Bear in mind, my Amps for this style would be predominantly solid state amps ( Roland Cube / Henrikksen Jazzamp / Phil Jones A.A.D Cub / Guitar Rig 3 Modeling e.t.c ) - so the end results would not be running through / being tamed by, nice hot and sweaty Valves . 8)
