I've been saving some money recently and will soon be able to afford the Cornford or the Orange....

I already own an Orange PPC112 cab and just wondered which you'd get?, seeing as they are both a similar price...

I have (and love) a Roadhouse 30w combo so I'm a little biased. For a start you've got the difference between 30w and 15w. If you're a gigger then 15w is pushing it a bit. The Roadhouse also has a wonderfully effective boost function that sounds better to me than anything that can be achieved with a pedal.

For me, the Roadhouse is the perfect pub gig amp if your tastes run mainly to classic overdrive plus a lot more if you want it. But I must mention that I have an early Roadhouse that runs EL34s and the newer ones use 6L6s. I haven't tried or heard the 6L6 version but Martin Kidd told me that there is very little difference in the tones.

15 watts pushed thru a 2x2 cab is already loud. Sometimes I gig with a Blues Junior/cab and then I can't use the full potential in my coverband. I don't know the Cornford, but heard the OR15 and that's like having the drivechannel of the Rockerverb under your fingertips. Btw, I own the Rockerverb 50.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

yeah the corn-ford does seem amazing, especially for the money, I can't decide if it's worth having the extra headroom and another thing is that I prefer the sound of 6L6's over EL34's which is even better. As you've guessed I don't like an uber clean sound, I like the in-between sounds where it's clean but with character,

does the cornford come with a boost pedal?

The Roadhouse has six pots - your typical bass, middle, treble, gain and volume. It has an additional boost control that can be activated by a switch on the control panel or by a footswitch. It's an extra stage of gain that you can add to your basic sounds for solos. This is a really good Roadhouse demo:

I like the OR15 a lot. That's my pick.
