Blackguard in a Baja
« on: December 09, 2012, 11:08:18 AM »
Hi,

I realise there are a few threads about the Blackguard series and Bajas, but my questionis slightly different.

I currently have a BG55 brdige, and a BG52 Neck (as that was the pairing at the time).

I am hopefully going to get a Tele Baja, and they come with the Twisted Tele neck and Broadcaster Bridge.

From what I have read the Twisted Tele is strat like (43 AWG) and so is the BG52 neck I have, but the Broadcaster bridge would be  *a slight bit* "stronger"/growlier than my BG55 bridge.

To me they sound very similar,  so I suppose my main question is:

Would it be worth swapping out the stock Baja pups for he ones I have, or better tostick with the stock ones, and relook at other Bareknuckle pups if I want something *more* different in the future ?

Thanks

I would say: just play it a for a while and see if the pickups do the job for you. Later you can always decide to swap the bridge.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

As you have all the pups in question, I'd do it anyway. You've nothing to lose trying. You can always swap them back.

I went to the BKPs mainly because I've never liked Tele neck pups and I didn't like the complexity of the S1 switching. The BG 50/Mule combo I have in mine is thicker and more geared towards rock than the standard pups. But it still has tones of that Tele vibe. They're a really stonking combination in it if you want to go more that way.

The standard Baja pups are really very good to be fair. It really is just one of those guitars they got very right (and a bargain too). If they work for you then I'm not sure I'd be in a hurry to swap them out at all.
When you´re racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just pies.

Thanks guys - I suppose I Will have to try them all out - my point really was if they were so similar as to not be much difference when swapped - but beauty is the ear of the beholder after all!
