Ash strat hss question
« on: December 10, 2012, 06:58:21 PM »
hey guys im going to have a Ash strat built from me by mike lull. I want a humbucker and 2 single coils. I play mostly metal. Which pickup combo would work best for this setup. I was thinking Warpig and two sinner's. I would like a medium output option as well that would work with this guitar. Ash/maple neck/ rosewood fingerboard.

Holy Diver or a Nailbomb with Trilogy Suites is a good combo for ash/bolt-on.
What about the Blackhawk for the bridge?
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I have a Holydiver in the bridge position of my ash bodied/maple neck + board strat, and it definitely could do metal if you don't mind that it's not really midscooped - you would have to obtain the midscoop from your amp/pedal set up. With a rosewood board it should work even better since rosewood boards tend to have sharper overtones compared to maple boards ore one piece maple necks.

Good alternatives would be the Miracle Man or the Alnico Nailbomb. Warpig could work as well but I don't have experience with that one.

Cheers Stephan

i never mention mid scooped if anything ash is already scooped. I would imagine that the guitar once finished is going to be quite bright.
