Sad times...
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:19:10 AM »
..well, we lost one of our cats on Thursday. Poppy, she was 14 years and 7 months old.

She went in for some exploratory surgery on a large swelling on her shoulder. The surgery went well but she crashed shortly afterwards. An adrenalin shot to the heart got her going again but she crashed shortly after and within 30 minutes had died.

Very sad. We didn't get to say a proper goodbye as we fully expected to see her back home again yesterday evening.

I think I hate being indecisive.

Sorry to hear about it. Losing a pet is like losing part of the family and it sucks.

Very sorry to hear. I lost my beloved dog in similar circumstances and as you say, you fully expect to have your pet back after the event. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear that, losing a pet is awful. We had to put our dog down a few months ago and it still doesn't feel right without him around!

I'm genuinely sorry to hear about Poppy ;   it's like part of you gets torn out when you lose a much beloved companion like that.   It must be doubly painful at this early stage,  as you were not able say a personal "Goodbye " - but at least uplifting that Poppy was  getting the best care -  and her health needs being swiftly attended to by her loving family.

Sleep well Poppy.

Thanks all. Still finding it tough - particularly when I can picture her walking into the front room!

That's rough mate. Very sorry to hear this news.

My cats about 10 and as much as I want to kick it sometimes, I'd be very sorry to see her go.

That's sad news man.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

A quick note,  just to say that I'm still thinking about you on this one Ian .

I recently rescued a neglected 15 month old Queen , to keep me and my 'Old Boy' on our toes / give her a better life. Looking at her , reminds me of Poppy - due to that 'Magic' combination of her being both Feline and Feminine.  I think that they do more for us,  than we can ever do for them.  Magic to live with , devastating to lose.  :(

Indeed!

I must admit that I had a bit of a tear on the way home from the vets. Got in the car, put the radio on and there was a song playing by an artist called Jenn Bostic. The first few lines were:

"I didn't know today would be our last
Or that I'd have to say goodbye to you so fast
I'm so numb, I can't feel anymore
Prayin' you'd just walk back through that door"

Now, call me a wuss but I found that incredibly moving. I've heard it a few times since and still can't manage to get past the first few lines without getting upset.
