Musical New Year's Resolutions
« on: December 28, 2012, 02:11:17 PM »
The Premise.
We each choose a piece of music that is currently out of our technical reach but not so far as to be unrealistic or something we've been meaning to learn for ages but have never gotten around to, then as the thread title suggests, we give it our best shot in 2013 and post the results here.

For me it's Notes Noir by Fapy Larferton.

and from a diffrent angel

[trivia]The album this is from was recorded in a barn using a single 1930's ribbon mic from the BBC, to change the mix they just moved their chair's arround the room.[/trivia]

Happy Holidays to you all.

It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

Been there, done that. :/

I've pretty much achieved everything possible musically, I've got new interests. Still haven't found the pick of destiny though.

At the moment I'm pretty set on overthrowing Obama and turning the US into a communist country that'll go by the name "soviet union V2".

You're sincerely,
Yngwie Malmsteen

Mine is to actually play the guitar a bit next year.  I must've only picked it up a handful of times in 2012.  :(

Likewise (although I do pick them up quite a lot).  It would be nice to end 2013 being able to play something on top of the tired old licks and riffs I've been trotting out for the last 30 years.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Actually need to get a band going this year. Me and my mate have been talking about it for ages. All we'd need is a bassist and singer as well..

Just like everyone I wanne improve my playing....suprise! I wanne put extra focus on my fingerpicking in conjuction with blues and folk stuff and my metal playing (maybe I can learn a full In Flames song).
I also wanne train my singing voice too, to make it more usable.

Oh, and I need to find more guys to just jam with.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Unfortunately that's much harder than it seems.

I have a few.

*Start focusing on learning modes and expanding my sense of melody/harmony
*Write and Record more songs
*Get a band together!
*Stop focusing on gear so much and just play the damn guitar.

* Play as many gigs as possible

I wouldn't mind starting a new band this year, but without any idiots in it...it's very unlikely to happen

Yes need to get back on the band thing, actually put myself out there again. (Did the setting up band thing/gigging previously, when left that band got a bit lazy, wandered in and out of musical things in 2012) so drummer hunting in 2013 (got the rest) oh and after the recording thing with Matt, tom, John, cleggy I need to practice way more

This made me laugh.

I've been in few bands over the years. Bands always have idiots in... and in hindsight, I was always one of them like everyone else is!

Embrace the idiocy and see where it goes :D (Never quite managed it meself, though)
