Who do you use to get a guitar re-finished?
« on: January 05, 2013, 06:14:20 PM »
I have already spoken to Jonathan at Feline who was honest enough to advise he currently has long lead times for re-finishes. Obviously he was my first call, but who to call next? I have 2 potential guitars that I want some work doing on, first is my R7 Custom. I just want the top re-finished in either a vintage/ off white or Gold like an old gold top. The back, sides and neck will stay black. Second is my Gordon Smith SG, this one I want a full re-fin. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Might be worth asking Wez who does finishing for him?

I thought of Sims too, but they seem pretty pricey.

I'm assuming you want nitro for the R7?  That may reduce your options a bit.

I don't think I know of anyone who can refin nitro in the UK - maybe Charlie Chandlers?

Thanks, Simms do look like a top notch outfit but yes they are quite pricey.

Dave

Yeah the R7 would have to be Nitro and that is my concern.

Might be worth asking on the Les Paul Forum if there's a UK specialist that's any good.

I think this guy may do nitro, but I'm not sure.  Might be worth an ask?

I know a guy in Nottingham who does all my setup work but he also does builds and refins etc. I'm not sure if he does Nitro or not though  :?
