Miracle Man and compression

Hiya

The BKP description states that the MM is quite compressed, but how compressed? Do they still react well to pick dynamics or are they more like an active pup in that regard?

I wouldn't call it compressed at all for a 18k ceramic pickup
it's pretty open and articulate compared to any famous non-bk ceramic pickup
much more open and detailed  than a duncan sh-5 or 6, dimarzio super distortion, gibson 500t, prs tremonti, emg 81
only ceramic non-bk that had this type of articulation was the dimarzio k10 (late 70's super 2), but it's a 9k pickup and I only had it in the neck position
I doubt it would respond to dynamics like a BKP in the bridge
the miracle man has a ton of dynamics, unless you have it VERY close to strings
cleans up really really well with softer picking and knob rolling

I can confirm all of this. And it sounds very organic for a pickup with a ceramic magnet - which to me is proof that it's not the magnet alone that is responsible for the sound. It's the sum of all parts.

how would it go with a cold sweat in the neck for some added versatility for a predominantly metal/rock guitar?

Perfect companion IMO (I run exactly that). I was never particularly keen on the MM neck.

I run mine with a boost to get more compression (to be fair i do that with all my pickups when i want heavier tones, and i am playing at low volumes).
