New Headshell Day
« on: January 21, 2013, 11:56:54 PM »
A while ago I built myself a backup amp. I just got a seafoam green headshell for it.
Here it is. Gut shots are from before the thing was finished but you get the idea.

I knew you would go or seafoam green!

Looks great! But we've already discussed this many times!

Rob is by far the better builder. I still have a lot to learn. I'm going to try out a few tricks that Dmoney has done & Soldano themselves do when i eventually get around to rebuilding my amp as it was my first build and is an abomination compared to my last few builds and especially this one!

I found it really hard to get a photo on my blackberry that didn't wash out the colour of the tolex. I always wanted a seafoam green guitar but the things I fancy don't tend to come in that kind of colour.

Thanks for the compliments on the build. I went all out on it. It's my cleanest build to date and I put a lot of effort into it. Not only in construction but also in sourcing all the parts. No corners have been cut in that amp. I even had the power supply PCB manufactured from drawings I made after teaching myself to use some PCB software specifically to do this. Bit over the top, but it's about picking up new skills as well finished article.

Here is a recording I did of this amp. It's really just my first attempt at using cab impulses in garageband (Cheers for the help with that Toe-Knee). One track duplicated to either side. Taken from the amp's DI out and using some kind of uberkab sim.
