I see Gibson have announced a Joe Perry '59 Les Paul in Aged/Signed, Aged and VOS editions.

Maybe I'm less clued up about Aerosmith than I thought I was, but I've never really associated Perry with any particular guitar, never mind any one particular Les Paul.  It's hardly as iconic as Pearly Gates, or the Peter Green/Gary Moore LP, or even Clapton's Beano LP.  I'm sure it's a nice guitar, but will there really be a demand for it?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Whilst it's really not cool they travelled all the way there to not be able to play, I think it's better they didn't. Reason being, i've been to guitar shows before, and when you've got people just wailing away on a guitar, you can't hear a thing, and you certainly can't have a conversation with someone nearby. With a full band, it's only going to be even louder, and if you're trying to listen to the tone of an acoustic or a reverb pedal within 20m, you won't be able to. Now i'm not saying that these events have to be silent-- that would just be daft, but a full band on a stand is a bit much, I think.
Slight tangent here, but did you guys hear about Chappers and co being told that they came across the pond for nowt? They were supposed to be playing, they set up and everything, got on stage, and then were told "Actually, no, you can't play. Volume levels problem."

Agreed.  I used to go to the guitar shows at Wembley years ago, and I'd find that after an hour or so the constant racket of people demoing and trying gear on all sides would drive me absolutely crazy.  Always left in a hurry, in a bad mood and more often than not with a headache!

That, and you can't buy anything at those events anymore!

While you're right that you can't pigeon-hole Joe to one guitar, the first one I think of is this one. It's also technically a part Slash signature LP as well. This was one of Joe's main guitars until sometime in the 80's when he sold it. Slash acquired it either from Joe or from whoever Joe sold it to, and used it alot. It's the guitar he's using in the November Rain music video. Slash gave it back to Joe for his 50th birthday.

Actually Joe's wife sold it without permission for some reason... Bitches'll bitch, huh?
But I've always related Joe to his black Les Paul, the one used in Living On The Edge i think, could be Janies Got a Gun.

What do you guys think of the EVH Striped Series? That white model looks incredible, giving me serious GAS.

I associate him with so many different guitars over the years - BC Rich Biches, Travis Beans, Dan Armstrongs, that upside-down left-handed Strat with a Tele neck, various LPs and in recent years some wacky custom models.  I know he has hundreds!  I didn't know the stories about this '59 LP.

I do like the look of the white version.  Interesting that they have some "modern" EVH features like the D-Tuna and the Wolfgang-style truss rod adjustment.

I've left guitar shows with a headache and the arseache cos of noise before. A full on band isn't practical in a music show unless its in a dedicated room. More fool them for not researching this first as there have been noise restrictions at shows for years now.

I want to play around with one of these. For days.
