This is one of those pesky threads where I couldn't see the pictures in work, so I had to be patient....

Nice, very nice!  :D

It's fascinating how different the colours are.  Rather like faded blue jeans, in fact.

I love playing all of my PRS guitars, and I've got to the point where I don't really have an overall favourite any more - just a favourite for that day/mood.  I'm grateful that I'm fortunate to be able to have them.  They're like my kids now, I don't think I could bear to see any go!

That's an interesting point.  I think there are certain guitars, or certain models of guitars, which just feel completely "right" and you can't imagine ever getting rid of them.  Whereas others just come and go.... and often you know, deep down, which category a guitar falls into even in the excitement of having just bought it.  Maybe those feelings change over time though, I don't know.

I tried, I really really did.  I wanted to stop, and had the Signature Limited sold I wouldn't have bought another.  Nothing of any value is selling right now though, so I may as well have the cash stored in something that's better for me.

They're all unique, much like the old 'bursts...

Some of mine over the years have been growers Phil, but the "right from the off" guitars seem to be the ones that have stuck around for me.  Mostly that's a PRS McCarty shape in a nitro finish - which are 5 of my 8 keepers.  As an aside, all bar one of my guitars are nitro finished so something in the feel really appeals to me.

Yeah, there is definitely much to be said for a nitro finish.  The debate about whether or not it affects tone has been done to death, but perhaps it's the way it actually feels that's the key.

I think it is Phil.  I just prefer the feel of it, it just seems more natural in some way.

Utterly utterly stunning! Big congrats, that one is just perfect! Beautiful colour and a trem, that's a perfects ME.

So this is a secondhand then and not part of the NOS MEs?

Lovely guitar Dave.  I seem to recall saying that once or twice before :)  I've always loved your original ME, but the colour in that one is fantastic.

Thanks Blue!

Correct - it's secondhand, bought here in the UK.  The NOS MEs released recently were only available in the US.  It's virtually impossible to get Brazilian Rosewood into (and even around) Europe now without a truckload of paperwork.  The only person who seems to be able to do it is Nick Huber, but I believe he's very organised with his mountains of documents.

Does Huber use Brazilian rosewood as standard?  I'm no expert, but I'd say mine looks like it's pretty bog-standard Indian rosewood.

(Edit:  I just looked at the Krauster specs on the website, it is Indian, ignore the question!  He must only use Brazilian on expensive models.)

Then I understood it correctly. Sweet guitar mate, absolutely stunning. But then, I'm a sucker for PRS guitars. :) What pups are in it 53/10?

Just some speculation: It might be that PRS didn't have the correct documents since they were produced several years ago, and it's not possible or worth it to recertify.  They could possibly do it again with new materials if Huber can, at least in limited quantities.

Yep, they're both Faded Blue Jean but the trem model has faded a bit, plus the maple is a bit yellower giving it a green tinge.

It's gorgeous in the flesh...

thanks :) wow that is a pretty big difference (from the pics, anyway, maybe not as obvious in real life). They both look really good, though :)

yeah that's what i'd say. i haven't done any scientific tests past "this poly guitar still sounds good", lol, but i have a tokai tele which has the poly finish, and while it's still a really nice guitar, it doesn't feel as nice under my fingers as my nitro tokai strat (or nitro edwards or sg).

Super nice looking guitar, Dave. I have always wanted to try out a ME, but have never stumbled upon one.
