Suggestions for a V with floyd
« on: February 08, 2013, 05:31:05 AM »
Hey guys, recently picked up a mahogany V (ESP Lynch SE) with 24.75 scale, maple neck and rosewood board, floyd. Has a SD custom 5 in the bridge and Phat Cat P90n. I'm fine with the neck but am not liking the SD Custom 5.The guitar was a little thin sounding when first played, so I replaced the trem block with a tungsten 32mm increased the thickness of the sound but still not what I want, now too bassey  and not enough mids. I'm mainly into hard rock, thinking of Holydiver, thoughts?

Obvious one is the HD. Lack of bass in the HD will be countered by the mahogany.

HD will do fine. Low end is not too overwhelming, it's mainly a about centermids. Round topend, but the maple neck will add some extra sparkle, I think. You will enjoy the full, creamy solonotes.
