shielding question...
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:52:31 AM »
Hi I've been shielding my Danelectro guitar with conductive adhesive copper tape, replacing the pots to CTS and re-wiring it. I wrote down the schematics exactly as it came as stock, which seemed designed for use in a non shielded guitar.

just a question regarding ground and how that works...

from what I have seen on the lipstick pickups after taking them out of the guitar they actually have a copper based upside down V shape underneath them...this is what the earth wire is attached to...BUT now I have lined the cavity with the copper tape where this touches...wont this cause a ground loop? I have tested it and it's all working but now instead of the middle position being hum cancelling the single coils are silent and the mid position has buzz, before it was the opposite way around. I can upload pictures if it will help to see inside in detail.

thought I'd ask here first as I'm a noob at this stuff and as you may be able to tell it's the first time I've ever done this,

help would be appreciated,

regards,

Ben
