Guitar-ish kickstarter thing.

I'm all for making learning guitar easier but this kinda makes me wish kickstarter gave you the option of donating money to stop people getting funding...

It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

I'm all for making picking up an instrument easier and more accessable but this is just for people who can't be bothered to put the effort in to actually learn to play the instrument.

I actually started playing at age 8 but really struggled with it and packed it in until I was about 14. It's the biggest regret of my life so far to be honest, so I understand how disheartening it can be to start out on an instrument you really struggle with.

This just seems like an easy way of getting all the 'glory' with none of the hard work. It's glorified Guitar Hero/Rock Band really

Hmmm, it's interesting that the promo clip only includes about 10 seconds in which you can actually hear the "guitar".  And it sounds awful. :?

It's not really playing the guitar, is it?  Assuming it's like Guitar Hero or Rock Band (which it seems to be) it's more like a test of reflexes and timing.

Incidentally, I'm absolutely terrible at the aforementioned games..... mind you, I'm also terrible at playing guitar.  :|

This looks and sounds terrible. I hope it fails. Just get a proper guitar and learn to,play it the hard way. Anyone who plays one of these is guaranteed instant helmet status.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Years ago I played a gig with a cabaret band. A guy complemented me on my guitar playing but told me that he played a 'real' guitar - he was talking about an acoustic . It turned out that he didn't believe I was playing the guitar at all and that he thought the music was produced by my manipulating the 'knobs and buttons'. Guy must have been a visionary.

Just out of interest, what kind of wondrous new-fangled instrument were you playing?  A Strat?

It was a 1963 SG - 4 'knobs' and a selector switch. I remember another occasion when I was in a music shop and there was a guy demonstrating a guitar (Strat) to his friend by showing him the different tones that could be obtained by moving the pickup selector switch. The guitar wasn't plugged in.

It's actually a fairly intresting prospect, a guitar with it's own internet connection, there has to be some possibilities there.
But what they have ended up doing is creating a device to hide peoples mistakes (to my mind, the most important thing to examine if you want to improve at anything) and to stifle people's creativity and voice, no notes not in their transcription get played, I wonder what that means for vibrato and bending and all that lovely stuff.
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

The basic idea behind this is great. However the way they have done it is not.

I get insanely bored learning scales and theory. If this was more aimed in that direction i would be all over it.
