Neck humbucker advice
« on: February 13, 2013, 03:55:04 AM »
Hi all,

Going to be ordering a neck humbucker for my PRS SC245 in the near future.  Currently has an Emerald bridge and seymour duncan jazz neck.  A few models have caught my eye, mainly Stormy Monday, Mule, and Emerald, but they all sound great so it`s difficult to choose.  Read many threads on the forum as well just looking for some discussion.

I like the jazz neck but playing through my orange rocker 30, neck humbuckers sound a bit tubby (even my vhii neck in another guitar), so I`d love something clearer and warmer if possible.  Something that splits nicely would be great as well.

I plan on adding a 550k pot into the mix as well to see how it sounds.

Emailed Tim but would love to get some more input, thanks for any suggestions.

I would suggest a Mule-neck.

I haven't played a mule neck, but I really like the clips on the main site. You might want to considder the MQ neck as well. It can't be splitted, but it has a lovely tone both clean and with some dirt.

Ended up hearing back from Ben, he recommended a VHII at first but on further discussion he feels mules would be bests suited for my classic rock needs.  Thanks for the advice all, I`ll post clips as soon as I`m able
