Belated NGD (avert thy eyes Roo)
« on: February 13, 2013, 11:51:36 AM »
I've had this a while now and have been meaning to post picks. Its an JB esquire from MJTele (http://mjtagedfinishes.com). Whilst I wouldn't say the paint relic work is particularly genuine looking in places I love the overall effect.

I opted for the largest neck that Allparts offer and that coupled with the Blackguard Flat50 I've got in it makes it pretty substantial sounding: less twang and more roar! :)

I love it!

Stunning looking Esquire!

I agree that the relic is over the top, but it sure looks good, authentic or not.

Excellent!  :D

I remember seeing that body (or more likely a similar one), in MJT's eBay shop.  Definitely has that old Jeff Beck look.

Their relic jobs are pretty good, I think, maybe more so on the bodies than the necks.  I had a Strat neck which looked old but still felt very new, ended up selling it because it wasn't chunky enough and the frets were too skinny.  But they certainly do the "crazing" of the finish quite nicely.

Wow, looks stunning! I've been wanting to get an MJT strat body and neck for a long time, just need to sell a couple more bits to have the funds.

Yup, I'm pretty pleased with it as it does capture the Jeff Beck look really well. The bonus is that the belly cut and the chamfered arm rest make it very comfortable to play: much more so than my fender esquire. The neck is a bit of a beast at 1" thick at the first fret. Its actually very nice to play though.

I don't think you could do a better relic job at the price MJT sells bodies / necks for.

Sounds great!  I like some contouring on a Tele body, I know it gets away from the "basic" vibe but it's definitely more comfortable.

I've been a bit scared of the super-fat Nocaster style necks, but I've got used to the big necks on my Gibson Jrs recently, so I might try a really fat Fender neck next time.

That is a very handsome beastie. I bought the body for my MkII TV Master project from MJT and I think they do some lovely work. Very stylish.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Sadly I've no means to record clips at the moment, sorry!

There's always the worry that the guitar will end up neck heavy as well - fortunately not in this case!

I've always somewhat enviously admired your collection of Juniors Philly!
