Finally finished...Pickup upgrades
« on: February 26, 2013, 01:17:22 AM »
Hello All,

I posted last year about my pickup replacements and the help was very much appreciated! I went through quite the ordeal with my first order of Nailbombs as the neck pickup had a crack in the coils. So, I had to ship them back to Tim from the US. I can't speak highly enough of Tim and his staff. The really took care of me and earned a very loyal customer!

The Nailbomb set is amazing! Hands down...They really sound great and overcame my Mesa Boogie F50 combo, which is a dark amp to begin with. I was so happy with the pickups, I ordered a set of Holydiver 7 string pickups for my Carvin, all alder 7 string guitar with an ebony fretboard. That was definitely the right choice for that guitar as it was really bright and very resonant.

For all of you who are curious as to what the Nailbomb neck pickup sounds like, I can't speak highly enough of it. It has a very tight, focused, 'stratty' tone to it when driven hard. It isn't muddy, nor does it have that dirty, fuzzy harmonica like tone to it. I can't stand overly thick neck pickups. It has wonderfully bright, sparkly and yet warm tone when clean. The silver covers sound excellent as well. I can hear the notes clearly and articulately.

Thanks Tim for such wonderful pickups and service!!

that's exactly how I'd describe the neck nailbomb, although it wasn't my thing
