Holy diver / Supermassive p90

Hi guys,
just a question about the match between the p90 supermassive in neck position and the holy diver in the bridge... would it work great for progressive stuff (more rock than metal) as for heavy rock and metal in a solidbody guitar?

Depends on the guitar. What woods does it have? What scale length? How does it sound acoustically?
I love the Holydiver, it's more than tight enough for metal, role the volume pot down and you can do blues and classic rock, it has a great lead tone, but it's picky. I hated it in my Strat, which is a very midrange heavy guitar. Sounds lovely in my Jackson which has a Mahogany Body, a Maple Neck and a Rosewood Fretboard.

No experience with the Supermassive. Someone else might chime in.

Mine is a singlecut with mahogany body and maple top.
i'm searching for versatile pickups, do you think i'm good with the holy diver?

I just forgot, i have a 25.6 scale length and a rosewood fretboard.
It sound real good unplugged (quite good sustain i mean  :lol:)

I think the Holydiver bridge will work well for what you want. I don't have experience with the Supermassive but it will definitely have more than enough power to keep up with the HD. I would rather worry about it having too much power.

I thought it would be the right pickup to play pink floyd's kind of solo or santana's with a smooth overdrive.
It surprises me that a p90 could have as much power as an high output humbucker

I guess your best bet would be to e-mail BKP directly and ask for their opinion. They know their pickups the best ;)

For Santana you might want to consider a humbucker like Abraxas- or Emerald-neck. Even with a Mule-neck you can get smooth leadsounds.

Remember the position it is in - in the neck spot a pickup is always louder because of the increased string movement. Of course if you play both pickups in the bridge position the HD will most likely be louder.
