I play 80's style punk.Think the clash, the sex pistols, the ramones (not thrash)all the way to metallica kill em all.I don't want vintage fuzz or modern metal tones.I'm putting this pickup in the bridge of '78 gibson les paul custom and I play through an all tube 1990 carvin X-100b 100 watt half stack through vintage celestions. My amp does punk and eighties metal very well(you can get them cheap, best deal around in my opinion). It gets good chug on muffled notes and has a little brighter more chimey sound than a marshall jcm 800 say.I plug straight into it with no effects,i just heavily overdrive the amp.I like a good full distorted sound when I play power chords where I can here the g string, actually all the strings but  I also want that low end chug and for my leads to scream. My amp does this already I just need a pickup to compliment it.I don't want dark, scooped modern metal. The guy at BK recomended riff raffs but when I hear them they sound very billy gibbons or angus young.Great tone but not exactly what I'm looking for.Maybe through my amp they would do what I want.Let me know what you think, your opinion will be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

I think the Emerald set might be what you're after - hotter with plenty of poke, but still in the PAF lineage tonally.

Love my emerald bridge but wouldn't say it's the best option for 'low end chug'.  Full clear chords yes, screamin leads you betcha, not the chuggiest pickup altho having the amp set up properly you could probably get the job done.

I think the HB sized Mississippi Queen will be excellent at handling the old school punk thing, but I don't know how it'll handle the Metallica stuff.

My first thought was Alnico Nailbomb - good for chuggish chords and for screaming leads. Maybe a bit too much power. Rebel Yell or Cold Sweat would be a good alternatives.

I think the RY will do what you want. Hefty enough output but not over the top and a lovely snarl in the mids and top end.
PRS Bernie Marsden Abraxas set
PRS S2 Singlecut RY's
JV Strat  IT Bridge
Gibson SG JB bridge
Fender Mex Tele Thinline TV Jones Classics

Thanks guys,as of right now I think I'm gonna go with the rebel yell as it sounds great on you tube and is described as a backed off nailbomb with more clarity, midrange punch and presence.
