Good replacement hardware?
« on: March 08, 2013, 03:06:24 PM »
Hi guys,
I am currently contemplating replacing a bit of the cheap hardware on some of my guitars and could use some advice on which brands deliver good quality as I donŽt know much about that yet.

My main thing is my Dean Vendetta 7 string, my first ever guitar and I still love it to death, just playes right and sounds great for the pricerange.
Now who makes a good 7 string tune-o-matic bridge?
Also which tuners could you recommend?

Also is there a chance that anyone knows of someone doing replacement sustain blocks for the Ibanez ZR trem? Or replacement trem arms for it? The stock one is too long for my taste.

Cheers
Kiichi

I don't know exactly what style of hardware your Dean has, but TonePros make a 7-string tune-o-matic.  They seem to be fairly hard to get hold of, though.

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

this seller does brass blocks for edge pros...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/guitarupgrades/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

might be able to tell you if they'd work on a zr, or point you in the direction of something which might work.

never tried them- a guy on music radar gave me the link, i think he bought one from them (for the edge pro) and said it was good.

as for tuners I can highly recommend gotoh's, schaller and grovers, have used all of them and really like the schallers on electrics and think they make special 7 string sets.

+1 for the Schallers.
