Have you guys see this?

I still can't get over the cool things Maiden gets to do. Looking forward to sampling some!

God I gotta get me some. I am currently really getting into handcrafted beer and add Maiden to that? Oh hell yes.
I wonder which kind of ale it is exactly. I am a big fan of India Pales, but it does not look like that.

It has to be stored away from Guinness as it has a fear of the dark

Shame it's not 6.66% ABV

Judging by the colour, looks like an ESB.

The 'secret recipe' bit made me laugh; the best brewers share their recipes. And there are only 3 types of beer anyway, when it comes down to it. A decent brewer could suss out the recipe pretty quick.

If they are REAL smart, they are using a proprietary yeast, which will not be easy to obtain or mimic. At least not until it gets put under a microscope ... or someone grabs the yeast from the trub. :)

Unfortunately, these types (English bitters) of beer are totally not in vogue in the US, and I doubt I will ever get to try it!!

i guess the "secret recipe" bit is pure hype from the marketing team. i also expect it to be like a kind of special bitter, maybe with some kind of twist to it.

i'd forgotten you were such a beer expert Ben, i like well brewed beer but know little more than the basics you learn by taking a brewery tour. i should try to find out more.

the coverage Trooper is getting is rather large, its been in a number of papers and it seems to be causing a bit of excitement online. if its good tasting, I expect it to be a big seller since its got such a memorable name.

I like real traditional dark bitters, hope its a winner - there are plenty of real ale places round here that will no doubt be game for stocking this.

It's also quite conceivable that casual punters will confuse it with Bombardier, which probably won't do its sales any harm.

(Caveat:  I don't know if Bombardier is any good as a beer, but it's certainly well known!)

I would love to see hidden-camera footage of the average (North American) Bud Light swilling metalhead trying to down a bottle of this which they got based purely on the fact that Eddie is on the draught handle!! :)
