RIP Clive Burr

Terrible news. Though I love Nicko's drumming and where the band have gone since he joined, I absolutely loved Clive and thought his playing was more tasteful in some tunes. Listen to The Prisoner off of NOTB. Absolutely killer drumming. He'll be missed.

That is sad news.  I see he was suffering from MS, I think I'd read that before somewhere but had forgotten.

You're right, there have been a lot of these threads recently.  You kind of expect it when people are approaching 70 (given the old "rock star lifestyles"....) but not a guy in his 50s.

Exactly. And unfortunately seeing how old some of these guys are getting, we'll be seeing more soon.

I've just read that original Yes guitarist Peter Banks died on 8 March.  RIP to him too.

i've been listening to a few early maiden live recordings this morning. his style could be fast and aggressive at times, almost punk.. and then at others subtle for example Strange World.

TheyCallMeVolume: The Prisoner has a rather funky intro beat doesn't it? I'm listening it to it as I write this and his playing reflects the different passages of the track well.

edit: A family friend had MS and it a big strain on their family, but it made it no easier when they passed away. RIP.

Definitely. Actually one of my favorite Maiden songs mainly because of the solid drumming on it. Also, Adrian wrote the song and I'm partial to his tunes because he always includes really cool, big choruses (for example, The Evil Men Do, Moonchild, Can I Play With Madness, Wasted Years, etc).

Add another to the list. Bob Zildjian, aka the founder of Sabian cymbals. One of the reasons us guitarists have to turn up so loud!
