I have an sg incoming

Well, at least the hull of a black limba one.

I was thinking nailbombs, but I keep reading mixed reviews on nailbombs in sgs. I have a set of nailbombs on hand, and frankly, I love the sound of them in a Les Paul.

For reference, I hate the Holy Diver, it did not have enough highs for me. I tried experimenting with height, and tried it in 3 guitars. I love the nailbomb and rebel yell, I llike the Miracle man, abraxas, riff raff and emeralds, and the odd aftermath here and there.. I know sgs are temperamental beasts with pickups, owing to the thin wood. What does this mean for, say a nailbomb?

I like aggression, I want this guitar to sound like a mean thing. About as mean as can be. I will be playing mostly hard rock, punk, hardcore, and metal on this bad boy, so cleans are not the biggest deal to me. The warpig to me sounds too warm and friendly for what I have in mind.

Anybody know what I might like or not like about a limba sg+ nailbombs? Is there a sonic issue there in general?

I would just throw them in see what happens. Forummember BigB loves the NB's in his SG.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Someone called my name ?-)

The ABomb bridge works wonder in my rather-dark SG for everything from standard E classic rock crunch to drop C hi-gain aggression (can't tell about the neck, I have a Mule instead). Black limba being usually brighter than mahogany, if you like the NBs on a LP then you should like them in your SG too. If not, well, it will be time to try something else  8)

Like Tele said, I'd at least try it.

Suffice it to say, I will try it, and if I don't like it, my LP Firebrand deluxe just might lose it's riff raffs. No harm though, I KNOW the nailbombs sound good in there. I just am not quite sure what to expect because the sg is a thinner sound than an lp generally, but the nailbombs struck me as fairly huge sounding.

I have a few more BKPs in 53mm. How do you think they would work in a 50mm bridge. I have noticed volume deficits in some 50mm pickups in a wide bridge, but I doubt it would be as bad with a  53mm pickup on a narrower bridge, or am I just wrong on that?

Because that widens my options substantially.
