NT-SD!
« on: March 20, 2013, 09:48:10 PM »
To counter-act (and possibly distract people from my shrieking cowardice) the other thread I posted a minute ago, I got a T-Shirt today that I am very proud of.  :D

Space Lego was a huge part of my growing up and allowed my imagination to run riot.

Fast forward some years, and this AMAZING show comes along called Firefly, easily one of the best (if not, THE ABSOLUTE best) Sci-Fi series I have ever seen (until Fox had a lobotomy and cancelled it...DUH!).

So imagine my absolute joy when Tee Fury came up with this little gem! The Space Lego logo, with a Firefly silhouette instead of the generic space rocket.

I love this T-Shirt, and I suspect my lady may have to arrange some kind of intervention when I refuse to take it off to wash it.

I don't totally understand the Space Lego or Firefly references, but I did quite like Serenity (on second viewing, it irritated me the first time).

Whatever, it's a pretty cool T shirt.

It's nice to get hold of an obscure T shirt, even if the general public are completely oblivious to its significance.

Here's the original 1980's Space Lego logo:

Serenity was the movie they made to "Tie-Up" the loose ends that Fox forced on the Firefly series. For me personally, Serenity was a quick rush-through of here's-how-it-all-turned-out. I think Joss Whedon should have held out for another network to pick them up, but I guess he was waiting a while too long. He probably had other things in the pipeline he wanted to get on with, so Serenity was the best way for him to close that particular chapter. Such a shame, in just one season they had me hooked, the plot and characters had so much more to give.  :?

What you said about Serenity makes sense - first time I saw it, I felt like you were supposed to know all about these characters before it started, which of course I didn't.  It was a bit like going to a party, finding it full of strangers and feeling very left out.  By the end, it was starting to grow on me, and the next time I saw it I really quite liked it.

(I won't be investigating Firefly, though - I don't have the patience for entire TV series!)

i loved space lego, and i loved Firefly, and i love that t-shirt! :)

Philly, i would recommend you do watch Firefly.  there were only 14 episodes made, so it's not a massive commitment, and if you liked the film you should really enjoy the series.  In common with most fans, i think the tv show was much better than the film.

Only 14 episodes?  I think I can handle that!  Let's go and find some Blu-ray reviews.....

Edit:  OK, Firefly ordered.  I thought I might as well get the Serenity steelbook at the same time.

Good man, Philly! :D
You won't regret it.

Yeah TeeFury shirts refresh every 24 hours, so if you like something, you have to get it there and then, although I have seen some older designs up on Ebay for not much more than normal retail. They come out with some proper corkers from time-to-time, but at the moment there seems to be a massive influx of Dr. Who inspired designs which really don't float my boat at all. Just as well, really, because I could quite easily rack up a huge credit card bill on that site with some of the past designs I've seen!

You may have to look carefully to get the Blue Sun thing. Watch Jayne closely.  :)
