Looking for some PU for my LesPaul J. 2013
« on: March 24, 2013, 06:19:32 PM »
Hey,

i am looking for a BareKnuckle PU for my LPJ 2013. I got in my second guitar (LP Epi), Seymour Duncan SH4 and SH6 like them but i want in the LPJ something different. Should be a passiv PU, with a good punch, open, and no agressive highs but also not too covered.
I am playing, progressiv metal, should be also great in clean parts.

Do you think the holydriver could be a good choise for the neck position or any other advice?

Your LPJ has 498 bridge right? I'd just put 500k pots and new caps and you'll be all set. Your LPJ has 300k pots from the factory. 500k will make a huge difference and open up those 490's. You do mean "LPJ" model and not the LP "Junior" model right?

Anyway, if you want to switch pickups, look at the Holy Diver/Cold-Sweat-neck combo.
If your amp is highgain you could also consider the Black Dog, maybe in combination with a booster. The BD is open,  has a bit more mids then classic PAF's and is tight enough for metal. Often recommended for sevenstrings too. Should work fine a Junior too.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

this is what i think too, now it sounds like there is no real pressure/depth sounds empty. Sure a poti change will be too a fine thing, but i think mor highs and openness will be not the solution of this.

Do you think i can use the holy driver in the bridge and the org. gibson 490r in the neck together?
