BK PUs for Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus

Hi@all,

I got a Gibson LP Classic plus w/ 496R & 500T. I want to replace them, because they sound too agressiv to me.
I want to get a more 'classic' rock tone. I'm thinking about an alnico II in the neck and a alnico V in the bridge.
A combination of Stormy Monday or PG Blues in the neck position and a Mule or Riff Raff in he bridge?
Or a Blackdog in the bridge position?
My LP Classic Plus is weight relieved and has a baked maple neck. I think tis should be taken into account for new PU choice.

Any experience or recommendations?

Wit a baked maple neck I would consider a calibrated Mule-set. Mules sound open, deep and almost 3D. The Mule-neck is epic, classic 59 PAF-tone. AIV-magnets deliver a balanced tonespectrum.

I'm actually not too sure how the baked maple boards sound and play. Mules should be good, and if the guitar isn't too bright, Riff Raff.

If your guitar has a brigter tone then average. a Black Dog-bridge/Mule-neck is a good combo too.

As telerocker said, you are not gonna go far wrong with a set of mules for classic rock sounds.

I have an older 92 LPCP with a rosewood fb and non weight-relieved body with a calibrated set of VHII's in it. They really have that old school rock tone to them. They are complex in a LP, and you get the most out of them if you ride the vol/tone knobs on your guitar. They cover ZZ Top- Free via Bonamassa and a bit of that 'use your illusion' tone. With the baked maple fb I'd imagine it imparts a bit more snarl to the tone. Also that slim taper neck will lighten the tone a bit too. Have you considered the Crawler ?

I'm a fan of the Black Dog, because of its versatility. You really can't go wrong with it.
