Looking for new Strat pickups
« on: April 12, 2013, 12:53:49 PM »
First post on the forum!  I'm looking for replacement set for my '62 re-issue strat (alder, rosewood).  I'm looking for a do all set to play hendrixy/gary moore type blues and john frusciante/funk style music.  Anyone have any recommendations?  I've looked at the Mother's Milk set, and Irish Tour set.

What about RWRP?  Yay or Nay?

Pot values?  Cap values?

Thanks

I'd say that the Mother's Milk would do the trick along with standard Strat pot (500k) and cap (.047uF) values. It would be worth checking the pots and caps you have to make sure that they have the values that they claim they do, and perhaps getting some better ones if they don't. :)

Gary Moore has quite a high power strat tone though.. Maybe Irish tours would be a good compromise.

Thanks for all of the information folks.  Does you guys have any opinions on RW/RP in the middle pickup or not?  I personally like it in my other strat.  Currently, my 62-reissue does not have it being the stock configuration for the guitar.  Just curious to hear other's opinions.

I second that. Once you clean them up they can get close to Mother's Milk anyway.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
