Killswitches
« on: June 06, 2013, 12:24:25 PM »
Hi all!

For some crazy reason I've decided to instal a killswitch on one of my guitars. I know they are mainly a one trick pony and a bit gimmicky however it's all in the name of science. I've acquired a little push to make switch but want to be absolutely sure that I get the correct wire. Based in the UK so I'm thinking maybe Maplin, B&Q or possibly some of the better guitar stores in the area might be able to help me out. Just need to know what to ask them for when I get there.
Aside from the wiring issue please feel free to pitch in with any advice or tips you think would be useful. Looks like a simple and fun mod that'll give me some extra experience with wiring and soldering, I'm excited to see the results!

I've installed a killswitch on one of my guitars.  You need a normally closed momentary switch.

I went with one of these.... http://www.maplin.co.uk/square-push-button-switches-2504

They're pretty simple to install too.  :)

I used it very briefly on the beginning of this song... https://soundcloud.com/psystatic/02-waiting-line?in=psystatic/sets/world-is-static
