Stockholm P-90
« on: June 14, 2013, 04:45:14 PM »
So I dumped one of these into my PRS SE EG and Jesus this thing sings, growls and shouts. Thought I'd put this vid up to showcase the sound I'm getting from it.

This video is taken from the last gig my band played. I put the pickup through it's paces from 2.22 (and yes that is a mirrored blue scratch plate). It's not the best quality but it gives you a sense of what this baby can handle.

I'm planning on doing a better quality video when I get the chance to really go though the sounds the Stockholm can deliver.

Thoughts and comments always welcome.

Cheers.

Hey Mr_RD, good song and playing! I'm looking forward to fit a matched set of Stockholms into my SG. How do you find them so far? I already have two guitars tuned to B standard and C# standard, so I would play the SG in standard or D standard tuning. I'd also play a mix of alternative rock and black metal (from Muse to Wolves in the Throne Room). Do you think that the Stockholms would handle these styles well? Cheers man!  PDT_003

Great playing and sound mate! I've been GASing for a proper P90 equipped guitar since I played my first instrument with some a while ago. And that PRS is beautiful as well... my poor wallet!

Hey guys!

Sorry for the (REALLY) late reply!

Serch777; My PRS is in drop C# (D standard with a low C#) and this pickup works magic. The Stockholm is a really articulate pickup.

It'll also easily do both styles! I've spent many hours using it to rock some Thin Lizzy. Because it's such a hot pickup it really drives an amp into that nice driven sound. However, stick some gain behind this thing and you have a BEAST! It has a great full sound with a nice (and powerful) midrange. It chugs better than a lot of humbuckers I've had!!

GuitarIv; Thanks mate! Yeah, I was surprised and amazed at finding a P90 that could kick the shite outta anything. It's such a full tone while still having that single coil brightness to it. If you want that P90 sound with extra kick I'd definitely recommend the Stockholm or the Supermassive 90.

And the PRS was only £180. It's an SE EG model. I got a mirrored blue scratch plate (I like things a bit OTT :D ) and put the Stockholm in it. Pretty cheap but I love it!
