Have you ever...
« on: June 17, 2013, 10:39:38 AM »
...been still drunk waking up the next morning? I'm just having my "morning" breakfast consisting of a cigarette, a cup of coffee and a glas of orange juice and damned, I'm still pissed like a pirate. It was a very long but beautiful evening yesterday with good friends, but I hate it when I should have a day off and someone wakes me up the next morning and asks me to do something before I even had the time to get some decent sleep and get sober again

Share your experiences if you don't mind, I'mma going to take a shower in the meantime...

In my younger days yes. I also would be up all night after a gig and going home for a quick shower before heading for work. Never did it when driving though and I was in my late teens. Can't imagine doing that now though. That is when I discovered that you can drink yourself sober-not literally, but  you can can relatively coherent . At least enough to fool yourself into thinking that you are fooling others into thinking that you are sober.

Yep, happened to me the past two weekends in a row  the feeling when you start sobering up is great and very welcome!

I know that feeling very well... You think you're drunk but undercover like James Bond but you're acting more like Mr Bean.

Last Monday I was tw@ted yet fighting to keep my secret Sunday night booze "mission" undercover in a directors meeting.

it happens from time to time.. i prefer it to waking up with a hangover, because its possible to take action and reduce the effects of any hangover which might be brewing.

Going back to the 2000-2005 period I used to go out four nights a week... Monday (student night), Wednesday (WMC, cheap drinks and pool), Friday and Saturday.  I recall sitting with my head in my hands till lunch time on more than one occasion, whoops

Longest hangover was a day and a half; with the help of some Bavarian marching powder.  Its not big and its not clever, but you only live once.

I used to work on a cruise ship in the Caribean and this happened to me every single day for six months. I had a paticularly bad experience in Panama when i had been on the lash till 6am and had to pass through immigration at 8am, the beer had convinced me i could speak Spanish. I ended up being interogated by guards (with automatic rifles) until a Spanish speaking colleague of mine came and sorted everything out.

I think technically you're probably nearly always still drunk the next morning after a heavy night - in the sense that you'd fail a breath test.

But it feels very different from being drunk the night before, because the environment is totally different.  A bit like being in a pub and only realising just how pissed you really are when you go to the "quiet room" (i.e. the toilet....)

I don't really ever get drunk nowadays, I've become a health nut, but my worst ever was staying in an almost-empty hotel in Margate for seven weeks during the winter (when Margate is completely dead).  We got drinking with the hotel staff, I had a whole bottle of Jack Daniel's (or thereabouts) and woke up face-down in a pool of vomit the next morning.  Went to the toilet, splatter-painted all three walls of the cubicle with spew (sorry about this...), felt utterly dreadful for the whole day and couldn't stand even the smell of JD for at least 10 years.

Oh, and then there was the time I vomited in the bath.  When I was in it.  It's all coming back to me now.

And that's about as rock'n'roll as I've ever got.

(Sorry, I guess those are hangover stories more than drunk-the-next day stories...)

Reading through all the posts I see I'm certainly not alone hahaha
I actually don't drink when I know I have to be functioning the next day, still it has happened quite a few times (especially the period I was working as waiter one whole summer, always grabbed a drink with my colleagues after the shift was over) and sometimes the company is too good, the music too tainting and the mood fits. Just like it was yesterday, still I didn't think someone would throw me outta bed today. Well the day is over, I think I'll have a beer now, put on some Gary Moore, jam a bit and go to sleep

Yes, and I almost cut off my thumb-off on a bandsaw where I worked when I was 18... After that I put some shame on my face and never did again

I'm very good at hiding being drunk the following morning, if you don't drink yourself sober it's not rock and roll.

This one time I remember drinking a bottle and a half of red wine and felt fine...until I got on the last bus home, next thing I remember was stumbling in the middle of the road with red wine stained sick on my white shirt and trying to flag a taxi down in manchester at 4.30 in the morning and the driver wondering if I'd murdered someone.
